Our Vision
ROAR is a restaurant rooted in rebellion. We honour the rebellious history of Tofino and we proudly rebel against the status quo. This isn’t like any other restaurant. We cook with live fire, and all of our food and beverage is inspired by the local people, makers and ingredients of Tofino. Just as you would gather with friends around the campfire, we invite you to get comfy here while we share the stories behind every one of our menu items as the fire roars in the background.
Our Roots
Mandy Farmer, CEO and co-owner of Hotel Zed, created ROAR to be a cozy gathering place where everyone in Tofino is welcome. Mandy is an award-winning entrepreneur who is acclaimed for creating totally unique and playful retro-chic hotels. She’s also renowned for leading her company and her community with love. These same principals that have proven wildly successful in the hotel industry have guided how we approach the restaurant business with ROAR: a unique, visionary restaurant that uses live fire, thrifted Canadian décor and heartfelt people to deliver a high quality, unforgettable and enthusiastically welcoming experience.
Our Culture
We’re intentionally creating a restaurant culture that rebels against the industry’s status quo. Here, we lead with our hearts. We are fierce when it comes to protecting work-life balance and a healthy team. Our culture and service doesn’t change if you’re a guest, a neighbour or a member of our team. Here, everyone is welcomed, respected, celebrated and nurtured.
Tribal Park Allies
At ROAR there is a growing appreciation for where we came from, where we live and how we must respect it. We are proud Tribal Park Allies supporting the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation’s vision of achieving a socially and ecologically just conservation economy, where every dollar spent supports the ecological protection and restoration of the Tribal Parks ancestral gardens and the resurgence of Tla-o-qui-aht culture and governance.
As part of this commitment we ask our guests to contribute 1% of their bill to the Tribal Parks Allies Program so the Tla-o-qui-aht Nation can continue the restoration and guardianship of their lands.
